Fourth of July Celebration

Here are a few pictures from the Fourth of July celebration at Capital City with the Powells and the future Mr. and Mrs. McAfee.
Monday we celebrated 35 weeks of pregnancy; I cannot believe the end is so near! The twins are growing and I look forward to posting their little faces next month.

Even though June has 30 days, this month flew by unbelievably quick! Tom was very excited to spend his first father’s day using his new hedge trimmer and working in the yard. Unfortunately, due to the drought there is not much to do in the yard, because the lack of water has damaged so many of our plants. In addition to the yard work, Tom has been quite busy getting ready for the twins – who knew everything requires “minor assembly” and at least 4 D batteries!

As for the pregnancy, the end is rapidly approaching, and the due date has moved up to the first week of August. When the doctor told us about the earlier expectancy date, I saw a slight look of panic in Tom’s eyes. He knew the nursery had furniture, but the room still required many things prior to the arrival of Girl and Boy Powell. Immediately following the appointment, he insisted we go and purchase the mattresses for the cribs, just in case they wanted to come early - who knew that a mattress crib could cost nearly as much as one for an adult bed.
We are in our 31st week of pregnancy and the twins weigh 3.10 lbs. and 3.8 lbs.; the doctors are extremely excited about the progress and have no significant concerns. As you can imagine sleeping is a bit awkward for me and frequently uncomfortable, but at this point I think I am high on adrenaline and dreaming of the day the twins arrive.
Enjoy the pictures and I hope all the father’s were able to celebrate their special day with their families!
